The subject systematic literature review in the librarian's training curriculum

Abstract

Systematic Literature Review is applied in health care for searching for evidence that can be used to make more assertive decisions. In this task, health agents can count on the help of a clinical librarian, who facilitates the data collection in the literature exploration. This article is an experience report about the development of a discipline, whose content is the RSL, to be offered in the training of librarians, in order to prepare them to work in the health area. The article presents theoretical and practical arguments that justify and confirm the librarian's participation in the search for relevant literature; discusses possibilities of librarians working with health teams to provide accurate, fast and reliable information for decision making; and reports on the planning phase of the subject, as a product of the teaching activities developed in the Teaching Internship. The text is characterized as descriptive, with a qualitative approach, mentioning the experiences lived as a doctoral student in the Postgraduate Program in Knowledge Management and Organization, especially with the offering of the discipline Teaching Internship. The results revealed the importance of inserting the proposed discipline in the curriculum of Librarianship courses, preparing new professionals for the clinical field of action, especially by facilitating the search and selection of information sources that contribute to assist in medical experiments, facilitating the adoption of measures that promote the health of the population.
