Abstract

This article presents information about the archive of the Fundação Oswaldo Cruz, as well as organization policies for the collection of physical archives developed by the Document and Archives Management System, and digital archives, by the ARCH Database, in addition to its respective archival procedures. This work is dedicated to explaining concepts about archives and conducting surveys on the packaging of the various works present in the units of the aforementioned institution. It aims to disseminate information on the storage process of documents from a public health institution, discussing its collections management policy. As for the purposes, the research is configured as descriptive and bibliographical with literature retrieved from databases in information sciences and on the website of the Fundação Oswaldo Cruz, because of this, it is a case study. The data collection method is an interview conducted in 2019 with eleven questions written by email to the head of the institution's Document Management Service about its file. Considering the reports obtained in the interview, it is possible to affirm that the institution's archive follows several established policies for certain storage media (physical or digital) that facilitate the dissemination of information and public access to the institution's collection.
