the waste of teachers’ information skills

Abstract

This work aims to identify and reflect on the information competencies of the teachers of the undergraduate colleges in geography of the departments of the State University of Bahia, in their teaching practice. To achieve the defined objectives, the research is bibliographic, exploratory, descriptive and qualitative. The collection of bibliographical sources was carried out in the Portal of Periodicals of CAPES and in the Database on Information Science, through the descriptors "information competences", "collegiate" and "teaching", allowing the selection of pertinent theoretical referential. The complexity theory is used to systematize his reflections in order to work on the intelligent incorporation of antagonisms in production and creation in which information skills are of fundamental importance. To obtain information about teaching practices, a semi-structured interview was applied to 5 professors of the Collegiate of Degree in Geography of the DCH IV. After reading the respective contributions, content analysis was applied, systematizing them into registration units and classifying them into meaning units. To maintain the anonymity of the interviewees, the simple numbering from 1 to 5 was used. The results point to individual practices and waste of potentialities, which could be used if there was a permanent feedback of the collegiate as a whole, in which teachers, the parts, used their skills in information to revitalize it, systematically developing articulated strategies.
